Laundry Soap

Laundry Soap

So you're curious about our laundry soap! Let me tell you all about it!

Laundry soap was the very first product I ever made from scratch. A friend had issues with her roommates using Tide in the same washer as her, it was leaving her with rashes - and she couldn't afford to buy the fancy "natural" brand for everyone. I was determined to help her out, because skin issues are not fun at all.

I spent quite a long time researching what's in laundry soap, and almost more importantly, why. It is so surprising to find out that the majority of what you're buying is fillers. Water in liquid, salt in powdered. All to make us feel like we're getting more for our money - think quantity over quality ('merica...) and when we put a lot of something in the washing machine, obviously it means our clothes are going to get extra clean. Wrong. It's actually a recipe for disaster. Your washing machine doesn't know to do an extra rinse cycle, so if you ever use more than the recommended amount you're going to end up with all the extra soap left in your fabrics.

Our laundry soap is safe for babies, sensitive skin, AND septic systems! We start by making a pure coconut oil bar soap. After curing, we shred it up, and set it out to dry out overnight. We then weigh out the perfect amount of that, and several other ingredients - stir those together, and then portion it out and mix in the essential oils! Finally, it's packed into jars by hand - and I mean packed! Those jars are full, to make sure you get plenty of load of laundry in! (always more than listed on the label!) AND IT IS AMAZING!

Yes, we do use sodium tetraborate in our laundry soap, and some people have had issues with this in the past, but I am very confident that it is a safe, and extremely effective ingredient. As with many powdered ingredients, it is recommended you keep it our of your eyes, you do not ingest it, and you do not inhale it. We don't see an issue with those things, and find it's benefits amazing! Of course, it is up to you to decide what is safe for your family, so we have formulated a borax free laundry soap you can find here: BORAX FREE LAUNDRY SOAP

If you're still unsure about borax Here is a link to information about the safety of borax.

To use our laundry soap in your washing machine, follow these simple instructions:

For regular/top loading machines use 1 Tablespoon per load.

For high efficiency machines use 1/2 Tablespoon per load. If you're concerned about using a powder in the tray that says "liquid only" just throw the powder into the drum with your laundry.

To use our laundry soap for your delicates/hand washables, follow these simple instructions:

Fill wash basin or sink with desired amount of water. Add 1/2-1 Tablespoon of laundry soap and stir to dissolve. Add laundry and wash as you normally would. Rinse clean with fresh water.

To use our laundry soap as a stain releaser, follow these simple instructions:

Just mix a small amount with water and create a watery paste - apply directly to stains and allow to sit for 15-20 minutes. Throw into washer and wash as you usually would.
